That's Right....

The pressure's on... Get shopping. And everyone better smell good. or at least not bad

Update on Style and Appearance

Apparently Dave is going to dress in formal attire and suggests that the rest of us look like we put "a little effort in!" I am feeling the pressure, Dave, to look like I gave it a college try. Be gentle!

Answers! (in addition to Maryse's)

Dress is, as I imagine Kent would say, "wear what you want." I'd say dressy casual, but some cowboy will show up in jeans and that's more than okay by me! Really, whatever you are comfortable in. Slacks, button down shirt, tie optional - if were a guy, that's what I would wear. Since I'm not, there are a few more options!

Questions?

I know that this was discussed before, but I don't recall what the answer was (if there was one). What is the attire for the dinner on Friday night? Also... besides the parade at 10 and the get together at Angie's at 3 does anyone know what the rest of the day looks like as far as the Magrath celebrations are concerned? You know, events, activities, fireworks, etc. I would appreciate any info that anyone has. It has been too long since I've been there. Thanks.

Beat you all (I think!)

Good Morning to all of you! Only a few weeks left. Are you all eagerly awaiting the "big weekend"! Well, since I last posted, alot has happened to my ever growing family! If you checkout my photobucket, or check out facebook, you will see. And yes, thanks Dave, very addicting! But very fun as well! My daughter, all of you probably remember, since she is now 20 years old, had a baby girl on July 4th! So check out the pictures. And Michelle, I did talk to Nancee. She is in the states still, and her and her hubby run a ranch, and as soon as my brain clears, I will post the website for their place. It's pretty cool. So, regardless to say, she will not be coming to the reunion. Hopefully I can still make it, my life seems to have gotten rather kaotic. At least try for Friday anyway, have a few drinks and relax! Would be great. But I do look forward to seeing you guys, and if you're on face book my name is Kerry Malinki. Take care and talk to you soon!

New Reading Material

I'm not sure if anyone checks this blog out anymore, but I thought I'd make one last update before the big Hoo Rah is a few weeks. I have emailed most of you and called some of you. Other's have mysteriously changed their telephone numbers since I last contacted them. Though I think I won't take it personally! Big news! Carrie Harris heard about this somehow and called up David. Or emailed him. I really should take notes when I discuss these things. She is a specialized pediatric nurse, I believe, in a hospital in Calgary. I think she is going back to school to become a physician. Ask David about her when you see her. She wishes she could come down to the reunion, but she is working that weekend. Hmmm, who else. Brad Beck - nearly impossible to contact. I do have two numbers and his phone was once answered by a nameless female, but I have never had the good fortune of speaking with him. I will give his mom the information and maybe, just maybe, he'll show up. I was sort of hoping he and Michael Aackland would be able to come - it would feel like old times. If we were ever sitting in a classroom in alphabetical order, it was Aackland, Baril, Beck. In fact, I still have a box that Brad made in Mr. Ririe's woodshop class. He gave it to me one day after school and I can't believe I saved it after all these years. It has some of my old 80's jewelry and other treasures from the past - though, what I really wish I saved were the notes that we all passed back and forth - now those would be worth something! I did talk to Chris Pilling the other day. He is doing well and sends his best and said to say hello. He was just in Magrath for a family wedding and didn't think he'd make it up for Magrath days. Though the thought of riding on a float was somewhat appealing.... Just in case the Colin Yeh that I found in Honk Kong, who looked suspiciously like the Colin that we knew and loved, was the real original deal, I sent him the information to the reunion. He says it isn't him, but I really wish it was. It would be great to see him again. Send positive thoughts out into the universe; maybe the real Colin will find us! Martha, Renee, Doug...I don't know. I have tried. I really have. I have the phone bill to prove it. Send more universe thoughts. And in case any of you addicts out there need a new habit, Dave set us on to the stunningly addictive Facebook. Check it out and join the group MHS Rules. We stumbled onto Mr. Steven Brockway. Man...technology is cool So, till later. Hope you've enjoyed your little update. Oh, and don't forget to RSVP to Tobi - number over on the sidebar. Make it snappy - she needs to get the numbers in to the chefs...or someone. Ciao

MY GIRLS

Thought I'd give us all something to read. Have we all lost interest? These are my daughters Mercedes and Marissa at thier graduations (kindergarted & Grade 12). What an insane year. Can you believe we have kids going on missions, and graduating? It seems like only yesterday it was us. I guess I'm feeling a little nostalgic. I can't wait to see you all again. Curtis's 20 yr is next week. Lucky me, I get to hang out with all those snotty Raymond girls. I hope they're all fat!
Let's get excited about this blog again! If you have not posted yet get on it!

Finally in Wyoming

Thought I'd fill everyone in with what's going on with our family. Kids last day of school in Independence would have been today, but last Fri. the moving company came to get our stuff and Sat. after the house was all clean the children and I headed out to be with my Husband here in Wyoming. ( no the house hasn't sold yet,) but 9 months apart and just being together on holidays has gone on long enough. I have had some real challenges, blessings and growth over this time, my children at times have been a challenge being both Mom and Dad, not fun. I have learned alot and grown alot and know I was never alone, even at times when I thought I might be. I am greatful for my family and what I have been blessed with in my life. Anyways, we decided just to leave the house in the realitors hands. We arrived here Sunday and I still haven't had too much time to sit. Found out that school goes till June 5th here. Mon. I registered the kids and Tues. they were back in school. By Wed. Kodi one of the twins was compaining of a sore throat so Thurs. it was off to the Dr. to find out he will be having his tonsels out June 5th. It is never ending always something. With all this, our stuff arrived here in Sheridan Wed. The movers spent 12 hours unloading what a day. We are living out here on the Dewey Ranch till the 1st of June, hopfully I'll have everything unpacked at the house by then. The kids love the school, teachers and children in thier classes here. they have made new friends and fit in well. They are also learning about the wild life out here on the Ranch very quickly as there are Rattle snakes all around, they have learned to really listen and watch, this has not slowed them down at all. It is so nice to be with my husband and together as a family once more, we have so missed him. I am hoping that things will slow down a little bit once we are unpacked and in the house, I need a brake. We will only be 4 blocks from the school and the kids already know how to get there and back on thier own which is nice. Anyways, this is what the MacDonnell family has been doing, thought some of you might want to know, YES, I am finally here. Looking forward to coming home this summer. Terri

Reunion is coming closer.

Hi Everyone! Well I thought I would just put a quick note. I finished my triathalon on Sunday, May 13. It was my Mother's Day gift to myself. It was so awesome to do, I can hardly wait until the next one. I have never felt so good in my life. I have been working on and off at the school. It seems to get this time of year and it gets busy. We will be finally slowing down with the kids come beginning of June and I am looking forward to it. Starting to work outside and get the garden in. I have to do it without my Mom this year so it will be interesting, I have always depended on her supervision. My Mom is now in long term care at Raymond Hospital. I try to get there 2-3 times a week. It gets hard, especially in the spring with the kids so busy. She is just not the same person she was, she has totally given up on life. I am finally feeling like I am coming out of the deep hole that I have felt I have been in. I know that going through this with her, I have suffered minor depression. Thank God, for good friends and a good husband. I feel I have been in a fog and so unorganized. If anyone knows me at all, that is not me. My training for the triathalon has kept me sane and kept going in my day to day. Everything is going well around here. Kids are growing. Hope to hear from you guys. This blog is fun to keep up. See ya soon.

Something new to read

I have nothing new to say, but every time I sign on and see that no-one new has posted; that there is nothing new to read - it is a bit of a let-down. So, in case any one else is missing Dave's pithy remarks, wishes to read about what David Wright is up to, or wonders where in the heck Chris Pilling landed, I thought I would do my best to add some new, albeit minimal, interest to the site. Just for the curious types, I have seen Chris Pilling in the last few years and attended his Reno wedding. It was as Reno as Reno comes. It could and should be written about, but not here and not without his permission! He lives in San Jose, California. He has a wife, and a business, and I am not sure if he will make it up or not, but he says hello to all. David Wright has moved to a new home in ...? Picture Butte? Pincher Creek? I should get my facts straight. He is working at a pharmacy there. His family is great. His wife is darling. He apparently doesn't use a computer in his off hours (I say this only because he takes an extraordinarily long time to answer any emails). I think he plays hockey in his free time. He does not blog. Though, for that matter, neither did I until this came along. That is all that I have time to add presently, though I will post more in the future if we hit another dry spell! Maybe this will encourage those who haven't posted to do so, before I tell any juicy details about them. (Sadly, however, I have none.) Adios Amigos -from the bilingual state of Nevada

GOLF... CORRECTED

Dave's sidebar information is a little incorrect. Michelle Dudley is in charge of the golf. Tee times begin at 1:30, only 9 holes. The cost is not $25, it is being generously donated by Mark Holzworth. The catch is that all of the golfers are collectively going to pick up the dinner tab for Mark and Teresa. If more people want to golf than Mark has passes for then we will figure it our when the time comes. Email Michelle to let her know if you are in or not - dudleygang@aol.com. I have found a location for the dinner, and I will eventually need to know if you are bringing your sweetie/best friend/ life partner or lover. Thank you all for contributing, this has been fun!!!

Hey Everyone...

There are a few things we need to know. Tobi is now beginning the thankless task of organizing our formal dinner. It would probably help to know exactly how many will be attending the aforementioned dinner. Many of us are not planning on subjecting our significant others to an evening of listening to us all talking about high school. Can you please post the exact number of people you would like to bring to the dinner. Take a second and check along the side for events and times.

Dearest classmates (non posters), I love to see my kids... I do everyday. But would really like to see someone else's family on "the Blog" now! So you silent readers "partaking of others efforts", please post - I know you're out there, as I was once one of you. It's easy, if I could figure it out, I know you can... Just ask your youngest child to help you, since they were born in the "computer age" they will know how... :-)

Hello All!

Hey Jason, I love to see you do the chicken dance, but felt that a change was needed.. Keep doing it bud, you look good! Well, by my calculations if 1.7 of us “new posters” post a picture and tell what we’ve been doing each week till July 28th, we will all be caught up and can really party in July! I know its cool to have the surprise effect at the time we see each other then, but wouldn’t it be better to be able to really connect and have all the preliminaries out of the way.... Thank you Dave, Michelle and Tobi for getting this all started here on “the blog”... Well, where do I start? Life has been an experience I guess. Didn’t turn out like I thought it would, but I have 2 great kids and love life... I went to BYU ( a mistake) for a year and did exactly what I said I wouldn’t do... Get married - AND before all of you, i think! What was I thinking???? Cathy, you could have sent some cold air down from Edmonton to cool me off and get me thinking right!! Anyways, Melissa was down in Provo at the time and was going to a dental assisting school, so I joined her.. Marcia was born 16 years ago and John about 2 years later. They really are great and I am very proud of them.. We moved from SLC to Phoenix about 13 yrs ago and I have been here since.. I got divorced in 2004. I just passed the anniversary of living in the US longer than I had lived in Canada...love both places, but maybe someday I’ll join some you back in The Prairies, own a little farm and ride my dad’s horses... But for now, I’m here till the kids are out of school... Which isn’t much longer... I have worked in the dental field most of the 20 years since high school, but did get my real estate license and worked in New Home sales for a bit.. Liked the job, but the hours were so terrible I returned to the same job I had been at before - the people I work with are like a family to me, so it was like coming home. I still have my license and do some real estate on the side - so it is a fun balance. I have a dated a very good guy for the last two years and time will tell what is in store for us. Well, that’s about it. You can check out some old school photos and some of my family at http://s166.photobucket.com/albums/u117/marydavies_2007/. Let’s keep the posting going, so whoever feels so inclined please do so soon! Love you all. Oh, and hey, Happy St. Patricks Day!! Mary

Celebration Time

OK dave,
If I've done my math right, we should have been doing this dance at the same time - of course you don't do it quite so spasmodically. It's kind of a mix between the robot, the scarecrow and one me and my drinking buddies call "the stiff one-leg". Sadly, there isn't enough JD in this whole country to pull the latter off.
Happy Birthday!

I am retiring...

I just thought I'd let you all know that I have officially retired from my task of "finding people." While generally successful, I would like to give everyone the opportunity to either enjoy all of our company at this reunion or turn us down flat! So... If any of you have any clues, connections, or creative ways of finding people - the task is yours. Here is what I know: Nancee Wilson - Chiropractor - may be in the Portland area. Likely has a different last name. Have contacted college she graduated from - they do not have any updated information.Have googled several versions of Nancee - Chiropractor - Portland. No success. She was from Raymond - may still have connections there Renee Maasakkers - mom lives in Magrath but hasn't answered the phone the numerous times I've called - you guys and your darn telemarketing blocks. I have an "unknown" number. I believe Renee lives in Lethbridge. Ray (Doug) Smith - possibly Lethbridge, but there are about 17 R. Smiths in Lethbridge and I did not have the heart to be "blocked call" from all of them! Simmone Creighton - no idea Leanne Hart - no idea Kevin Engbrecht - I googled him and found very little that narrowed it down. I then googled myself and discovered that I am a Sasquatch fanatic & photographer in Manitoba and I have written several articles on the subject. I should probably stop googling. Colin Yeh - I contacted the U of A and they forwarded a letter on. Haven't heard back. The Tangs (who he may have lived with) in Lethbridge had no idea what I was talking about when I called them searching for him. I googled him also - one good lead - not him. Or that's what he said, anyway! So, if you know someone's cousin who may have an address, or know the ex-girlfirend who may be able to contact....the search is yours. I have a field trip to go on!

Just thought I'd say hi...

Ok I've been lurkin' for awhile and I thought I'd finally post and say hi to all! I have to admit, I'm a little jealous. This blog, and the internet in general, have made this reunion way easier to plan. Shannon and I had a rough time and this is way more fun!! I'm still here in Magrath - my whole life mostly - but 16.5 of that married. Here's the link for my photos. http://s168.photobucket.com/albums/u187/nae1969/ I have 2 boys and 2 girls (I like things even), the oldest is in Grade 10 the youngest is in preschool. I work in the good old MHS. I spend most of my time in Grade 8 with all those hormone driven teens - I don't remember things being that bad in Jr. High. Maybe it's just old age and selective memory. One of these days I'll post an imovie for you all to see. For those of you who haven't been in the school for awhile, it has changed alot. Starting with the fact (and you'll love this Dave) the entire school is wired in Mac. We have 4 labs and every teacher has a laptop. Everything is done via the computer. It's great hearing about all of you.

Where's the picnic?

Everyone seems to agree, no teachers at the dinner. We'll just invite them to the picnic. I guess because they're a part of my daily life I didn't really think that it would be a little awkward at the dinner, but I can totally see how it would be now. Thanks for everyone's input. Michelle brought up a good point about the picnic. If we have it behind the school our kids can still participate in the kids races and play at the park. It is fun to see everyone who's around for the weekend walking around after the parade. However, I agree with Tobi. I would rather have the picnic at Angie's where it is a little more private. Maybe we could meet in Angie's backyard after the kids races. That would give those that want to walk around a bit and visit the time to do so. If we did it at Angie's I could make my famous (to my family) loose meat sandwiches and everyone else bring potluck salad & desert, or we could just have everyone bring thier own picnic for thier own family. What does everyone think? Maryse

38 years old.......

Drianne mentioned that she was already 38. Sorry, Drianne I somehow thought your birthday was in April??? I really don't know why. That got me thinking about everyone's birthdays. I'm pretty sure that Jason turned 38 in December. (am I right??) Anyone else already 38? I think that there are several March birthdays: Dave, Rich, Dana, Keith??? I cant remember! I can't believe that I have forgotten when everyone's birthdays are. I listed some of the birthdays that I remember, but then thought that some may not want their bday posted so if you don't want to post it here then email me at: melissa@hoyboyz.com and tell me your birthday and if you mind if I pass it along to anyone else that would like a list of everyone's b-days. Anyway, Happy Birthday to everyone with a birthday coming up this month. Melissa
